Our Term 2 Open Class Series gives you direct access to the same environment, standard, and energy as our full-time and company dancers. You’re not just taking a class, you’re stepping into a professional room, working alongside the Scimm. Dance Pre-Professional cohort and Scimm. Dance Company while being pushed to a higher level.

Company Class — Tuesdays (10:00–11:30AM)
Led by Artistic Directors Scott Pokorny and Tim Barnes, this is your chance to experience how our professional Scimm. dancers actually train.
Expect a strong technical foundation, layered with musicality, detail, and the signature Scimm. contemporary style. This is focused, high-level training designed to build consistency, control, and performance quality.
Open Contemporary — Fridays (9:30–11:00AM)
Train directly alongside our full-time Pre-Professional dancers in an open contemporary class led by Artistic Directors Scott Pokorny & Tim Barnes.
This is where you sharpen your edge. You’ll be challenged to pick up faster, move with intention, and match the standard in the room. If you want to bridge the gap between where you are and where you need to be, this is it.

Each week, a leading industry artist steps in to bring a fresh perspective, new style, and different creative push.

This is not a workshop. This is not a holiday program. The Experience is Scimm. Dance's signature intensive, a condensed, high-impact week where Melbourne dancers aged 9 and up train, create, and perform alongside the Scimm. Artistic Directors Scott Pokorny & Tim Barnes alongside and leading Australian choreographers and artists including Samuel Dominic, Bailey Glen & Billie Watson, DaisyBoo Allen & Issy Fox (MORE SOON TO BE ANNOUNCED).
Across seven days in September, you'll move through contemporary, ballet, jazz and commercial, building original works from the ground up and performing it on stage at the end of the week. No months of commitment. No long audition process. Just a week that will genuinely challenge and change you. Applications are open now via online video submission.

AUDITION FOR SCIMM. DANCE PRE-PROFESSIONAL 2027
Ready to take the next step towards a professional dance career?
Scimm. Dance Pre-Professional is a full-time training course designed for committed dancers aged 16+ who are ready to refine their technique, expand their artistry, and train within a high-performance contemporary environment. Led by Artistic Directors Scott Pokorny and Tim Barnes, the course combines contemporary, ballet, commercial, improvisation, performance and professional development to shape versatile, industry-ready artists.
Our 2027 intake auditions will take place on Sunday, July 19th at the Australian Academy of Dance in Melbourne. Dancers are required to complete the online application form prior to attending the audition. Selected applicants will also complete an interview as part of the audition process.
At Scimm., training goes beyond the studio. Dancers work alongside industry professionals, gain performance opportunities, and experience the reality of a professional dance environment in a supportive, inclusive and creatively driven community.

Scimm. Dance Pre-Professional returns to Gasworks Arts Park on June 25 & 26 for Winter Season 2026 - an electrifying showcase of contemporary, classical and commercial works performed by dancers in the midst of their full-time professional training journey.
Featuring choreography by Samuel Dominic, Andie Dashwood, Bailey Glen, Ben Scarmozzino, Tyler Carney, Stephen Tannos, Ashtyn Gloury and Michael Ralph, alongside Scimm. Artistic Directors Scott Pokorny and Tim Barnes, this year’s season promises powerful ensemble works, bold physicality and standout solo performances from some of Australia’s emerging dance artists.
More than a performance, Winter Season offers a rare insight into the intensity, discipline and artistry behind Scimm. Dance’s renowned full-time training program. Every work on stage reflects the technical excellence, creative development and performance experience these dancers undertake throughout the year.
