This is not a workshop. This is not a holiday program. The Experience is Scimm. Dance's signature intensive, a condensed, high-impact week where Melbourne dancers aged 9 and up train, create, and perform alongside the Scimm. Artistic Directors Scott Pokorny & Tim Barnes alongside and leading Australian choreographers and artists including Issy Fox, Briari Nolet, Samuel Dominic, Billie Watson, Tiana Vassallo and Monique Piccioli.
Across seven days in September, you'll move through contemporary, ballet, jazz and commercial, building original works from the ground up and performing it on stage at the end of the week. No months of commitment. No long audition process. Just a week that will genuinely challenge and change you. Applications are open now via online video submission.

AUDITION FOR SCIMM. DANCE PRE-PROFESSIONAL 2027
Ready to take the next step towards a professional dance career?
Scimm. Dance Pre-Professional is a full-time training course designed for committed dancers aged 16+ who are ready to refine their technique, expand their artistry, and train within a high-performance contemporary environment. Led by Artistic Directors Scott Pokorny and Tim Barnes, the course combines contemporary, ballet, commercial, improvisation, performance and professional development to shape versatile, industry-ready artists.
Our second round 2027 intake auditions will take place on Sunday, Ocotber 25th at the Australian Academy of Dance in Melbourne. Dancers are required to complete the online application form prior to attending the audition. Selected applicants will also complete an interview as part of the audition process.
At Scimm., training goes beyond the studio. Dancers work alongside industry professionals, gain performance opportunities, and experience the reality of a professional dance environment in a supportive, inclusive and creatively driven community. Download your free Prospectus here.

PRE-REGISTER PLATFORMS 2027
Pre-registrations are now open for Platforms Youth Company 2027.
Following an incredible 2026 season of APEX, Platforms Youth Company returns in 2027 to continue offering young dancers the opportunity to train, create and perform in a professional contemporary dance environment.
Designed for passionate young artists ready to challenge themselves, Platforms gives dancers the chance to work with leading choreographers, develop their artistry and be part of a company-style performance experience.
Auditions will take place in early November 2026.

TERM 3 OPEN CLASS SERIES
Our Open Classes return for Term 3, giving intermediate to advanced dancers the opportunity to train alongside our full-time Pre-Professional cohort every Friday at the Australian Academy of Dance.
Friday mornings | 9:45 - 11:15am
Join Artistic Directors Scott Pokorny and Tim Barnes for a class grounded in Scimm.’s signature style: physical, musical and dynamic contemporary dance, combining classical technique with a strong commercial edge. Expect detailed choreography, powerful music and a focus on coordination, performance quality, stamina and individuality.
Friday afternoons | 1:30 - 3:00pm
Our Guest Open Classes feature a rotating line-up of industry artists across contemporary, commercial, lyrical and heels. Each week offers a different movement style, creative approach and opportunity to expand your versatility.
Term 3 guest artists include Jordan Elise, Zoee Marsh, Pol Andres Thio, Jess Goodfellow, Rachel Coulson, Ashtyn Gloury, Nadia Tornese and Billie Watson.
Classes are suitable for intermediate–advanced, pre-professional and professional dancers.
$15 per class | Places are limited to 15 dancers per session. Online bookings only, no door sales available.
SONDER | TICKETS ON SALE
What happens when the dancers take the lead? Every life is as vivid as your own.
SONDER is a contemporary dance showcase created, choreographed and performed by the 2026 Scimm. Dance Pre-Professional cohort.
Across two acts and around 15 original works, the dancers bring their own ideas, stories and perspectives to the stage. Inspired by the realisation that every person lives a life as vivid and complex as our own, SONDER invites us to look beyond ourselves and notice the worlds unfolding around us.
From the first idea in the studio to the final work on stage, this season belongs to them. The result is raw, personal and entirely shaped by the different voices within this cohort.
One evening. Around 15 original works. A new generation of dance artists.

2026 SCHOLARSHIP WORKSHOP
The Scimm. Dance Scholarship Workshop is back on Sunday 11 October 2026 at the Australian Academy of Dance.
This is a full day of dancing, learning and being seen. Across the workshops, the Scimm. team will be looking at how you move, respond to direction and work with others. You do not need to be a current Scimm. dancer to take part.
Dancers will be considered for 2027 placements and scholarships across Pre-Professional, Ascension, Platforms & The Experience.
There are also partner prizes including dancewear, vouchers, physiotherapy and recovery packs, professional portfolio photography, a showreel, Victorian Dance Festival passes, competition credits and more.
