Scimm. Dance is an independent contemporary dance organisation based in Naarm/Melbourne. Founded by Artistic Directors Scott Pokorny and Tim Barnes, Scimm. creates powerful live performance and develops dancers through rigorous, artist-led contemporary training.
Our Story
Scimm. began in 2013 with a simple idea: to create more opportunities for technically trained dancers to explore, collaborate and perform beyond traditional pathways.
Scott and Tim started by bringing dancers together to make work, drawing on their shared backgrounds in classical ballet and their passion for contemporary movement.
What began as independent performance projects has grown into a professional dance company, a youth company and a range of contemporary training opportunities. Throughout that growth, our focus has remained the same: exceptional dancing, ambitious creative work and meaningful opportunities for artists.
